The red character above Grandmaster Ki is the Chinese character "In" which means patience. "Ja" is people. "InJa " literally translated is patient people, not the Ninja as in the movies. When we train in martial arts, our goal is for balance and to be patient people. This is an important reminder when we bow in and start our training.

"The goal of martial arts is for balance and to be patient people, an important reminder when we bow in and start our training. A rolling stone gathers no moss!"

Established by Grandmaster Ki.C. Yoon, Kum Moo Kwan is the style of Korean Hapkido taught in our Victoria studio.  Our goal is to balance mind, body and spirit through martial arts training.

Hapkido is a comprehensive martial art that involves kicking, punching, striking, and rolling, as well as break falls, joint manipulation, grappling and throwing.

Cultivating one’s inner power or “Ki” is at the heart of Hapkido training, which is accomplished through the use of abdominal breathing and isometric exercise, and also using other people's energy to defend against stronger and more aggressive opponents.  The traditional format is structured to cultivate focus, discipline and respect.

Hapkido is a defensive art, we do not train for tournaments and trophies.

Hapkido is a Discipline and Way of Life That Allows Harmony and Balance
